Raiders' Davante Adams reveals why the offense in 2024 will be much more comfortable for him
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are trying to rebuild and revitalize their offense. They have the pieces to have a good offense, but their system was flawed from the get-go last season. With the same system in place when Antonio Pierce took over, things would never change.

This offseason, Antonio Pierce made a game-changing move by assembling his own staff, a notable addition being former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Despite his unconventional tenure with the Bears, Getsy's arrival signifies a resolute intent to enhance the Raiders' offense, which was lackluster in the previous season.

The offensive system, which will heavily rely on the run and two tight end sets, aligns perfectly with the Raiders' and Antonio Pierce's objectives. Most importantly, it's a system that will create a more comfortable environment for their star offensive player.

"We have a really good system on offense now. It's something I'm very familiar with," Davante Adams said on Maxx Crosby's podcast The Rush. "It's literally the same verbiage, everything. ... Now it's about coming out and starting fast. We won that first game last year, but just establishing who we are in that first quarter of the year, it obviously starts with a whole lot of other work before that in OTAs and throughout Training Camp."

For the Raiders' best offensive player, Davante Adams, the transition to the new offensive system should be a smooth one. The system, likely to be similar if not identical to the one he was accustomed to in Green Bay, was instrumental in his success there. With Getsy's past experience with the Packers, Adams can expect a familiar environment that could significantly enhance his performance.

Then, in 2020 and 2021 Getsy was the pass game coordinator for the Packers. His significant influence on the offense being run in Green Bay, an offense that saw Adams become one of the most dominant receivers in the league, is a promising sign for the Raiders. It was also an offense that was elite at times, sparking anticipation for what Getsy could bring to the Raiders.

If the Raiders can replicate it even in the slightest, they may be on to something. But, that starts with making your best player comfortable.
